Hi! Can you take the lead on this one? Please send me a shortlist of three venues by Friday. You’ll be great. – F.
Dear Fiona,
Thank you for your time on the phone last week. As promised, here is our brief for the Green Futures Summit, which will take place in Lisbon on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 May.
We expect around 300 delegates: customers, investors and journalists. This number could rise to 320 if two of our European partners confirm. The venue will need a main hall that can accommodate everyone for the plenary sessions, four breakout rooms of about 40 seats each, and an exhibition area for our 12 sponsors.
On the evening of the 14th, we would like a gala dinner for 150 guests (speakers, sponsors and VIP customers) in a memorable location.
Sustainability is at the heart of our brand, so this cannot be a typical conference. At least half of the food should be plant-based, we want no single-use plastic, and the venue must be easy to reach by public transport.
Our total budget is €180,000, not including delegates’ travel. We would need to choose the venue by 30 March at the latest.
I look forward to your ideas.
Best regards,
Daniel Okafor
TOEIC tip · Part 7: read the questions first, then look for the answer in the text. The right answer is often a paraphrase.
2 · Event vocabulary
3 · The phone is ringing (Part 2)
Listen to the question and the 3 responses (A, B, C), then choose the best one. As in the TOEIC, the responses are not written. Turn the sound on or use earphones.
